UGA vs. Tennessee Kickoff Time Set

It looks like the UGA/Tennessee October 9th matchup will kickoff at 12:21 pm. This comes as no surprise given the current status of both programs. In other news, the AJC is reporting that the UGA/Oregon home-and-home series slated for 2015 and 2016 has been canceled. I think one good thing UGA has done the past few years is the scheduling of respectable out-of-conference opponents (Colorado, Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Clemson, omitted: Boise State-because we put them in their place). So it is disappointing this series has been canceled because it might have shaped up to be a good one. Here is the AJC article...

  1. That Trend is going to continue. The new AD has said that he wants 7 home games a year. This will lead to no good out of conference games. He is following the Florida model which is play no out of conference games away from your home stadium. Florida hasn't played an out of conference game away from the state of Florida in like 20 years.

  2. It is definitely trending toward a "Florida" model. But I hate to point out that Florida has won 2 national championships in the past 5 years. There should be a medium ground that works well...but maybe that's what UGA has been doing.

  3. Yeah, he said he will keep the Clemson games because they make sense. He also said there is just no reason to travel that far. I was reading where he said his model is to play one non conference "BCS" game and that is always GT so he is content with that. He thinks the schedule is hard enough as it is. He said winning will build the georgia name more that traveling.
